St Wilfrid's Hospice

Thesis were pleased to be able to support St Wilfrid’s Hospice for their 2024 Christmas appeal with a donation of £2000. This local Bosham charity supports residents with periods of respite as well as longer stays and also assists nearly 300 people in their homes in the local region. Friends and relatives of the Thesis team have recently benefited from the wonderful facilities and palliative care provided by St. Wilfrid’s.

Thesis also donated a range of LimbO waterproof protectors for use by residents at the hospice or at home. We are looking to develop our links with St. Wilfrid’s with further donations and volunteering time. There is an opportunity for staff from Thesis to donate “time” by way of assisting in a local charity shop or the collection centre in Chichester during the working week at Thesis’ expense.

Please contact St. Wilfrid’s if you are interested in supporting them or want to request help for you or a loved one: stwh.co.uk

For many years, Thesis have supported the British Orthopaedic Association Casting Committee and specifically the National Cast Training Advisor Mark Rees, as they continue to work successfully to award candidates attending BOA validated courses the British Casting Certificate. The BOA continues to be challenged in maintaining the profile of Orthopaedic Practitioners and the standards in casting rooms, pushing for more formal recognition and regulation of the profession.

To this end, the BOA are looking for a new university to align with to enable the opportunity to build a new programme leading to a full diploma-based qualification.

Since their early years, Thesis have been proud of their close connections with the orthopaedic practitioner profession through the BOA and the teaching teams at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (Stanmore), Royal Gwent Hospital (Newport) and Bradford Teaching Hospitals. We have provided 100’s of demonstrations to casting students of the LimbO waterproof protector as well as subsidising the cost of many courses through our Educational Fund.

Wound Care Alliance UK

Thesis has been a supporter of the charity - Wound Care Alliance UK for many years with funding and involvement with their Annual Conference and Annual Skills Day.

The treatment of wounds continues to be a major financial and resource challenge for the NHS. The primary objective of the Wound Care Alliance UK is the development and promotion of a multi-disciplinary approach and best practice in the assessment and management of wounds to reduce the burden on the NHS and prevent avoidable patient suffering. The Alliance provides training and education through experienced wound care professionals for both specialist and non-specialist practitioners across all care settings. The Wound Care Alliance UK relies in part on businesses involved in wound management for funding and the support of companies such as thesis Technology is critical to achieving their objectives.

This collaboration has allowed Thesis to showcase our LimbO waterproof protector, the perfect solution for keeping wound dressings dry when showering and bathing. For more information on the Alliance, please visit: wcauk.org

Global Media Campaign

Thesis were keen to support the non-profit organisation Global Media Campaign (GMC) and their work to support the end of female genital mutilation, which is still practised in 28 countries with devasting consequences to girls. GMC works to empower local frontline organisations, led by FGM survivors who know what it takes to change practices in their own communities.

GMC does phenomenal work yet is facing a funding crunch, partly because of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) reducing its funding to organisations fighting FGM. At the same time, innovations pioneered by GMC such as the "Born Perfect" Caravans, are proving extremely effective to change community norms and practices on FGM. The 'Caravan' is an actual bus or similar which travels between strategically selected villages in a given country, with giant screens showing local language films with clips of religious or tribal leaders explaining that FGM is not required by religion or culture. Community members then make a "Dear Daughter" pledge not to perform FGM on their daughters. In Guinea Bissau, where FGM prevalence is over 90%, 8 out of 10 participants took this pledge after attending a Caravan event.

Thesis donated £5,000 to help the GMC continue their incredible work despite funding shortfalls. Maggie O’Kane, Co-founder of GMC was truly grateful for the contribution:

Dear Ana,

You have no idea how timely this donation is - as our funds from the EU have been delayed and delayed and won't reach us until the end of January - so this donation, along with others will give us the critical bridge we need - so we can really get going in 2025-  thanks so much.

University of Chichester Placement Scheme

Thesis were pleased to welcome a student from the our local university in Chichester on a 20-week placement in 2025. This arrangement is designed to give students from the University of Chichester business school experience, and help to develop skills in the workplace, giving them an advantage when searching for future employment.

Havant Rotary Club – a long-established supporter of many activities in our local community and further afield with a wide range of fund-raising initiatives and offering opportunities to youngsters to develop and learn new skills.

Thesis has been very  “egg-cited” to have been part of the Rotary Club’s Easter Egg campaign for the last 3 years.  This is where a large Easter egg is donated as a raffle prize and Thesis has matched the money raised by our staff.  To date this has raised nearly £900 and lots of calories!

SW Honey Farms

“Improving the world, one bee at a time!” That’s the mission of SW Honey Farms, a local initiative that allowed us to adopt a beehive in 2023 and help encourage growth in the bee population, recognising their vital role in the natural environment and not forgetting the production of their delicious honey.  We have definitely enjoyed a jar or two with this unique project.
